ABOUT THE SPEAKER; Dr. N. R. Joshi holds a Ph. D, degree in Materials Science and Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University of Baltimore, Maryland. He has 60 research publications. He is the fellow of American Society of Nondestructive Testing. His research specialty is Ultrasonics. Ultrasonics is high frequency sound while language and Music are composed in low frequency sound. Because of his background in physics of sound, he was attracted by the phonetics of Sanskrit. At present there are many books on phonetics and sonograms of English language. As a curiosity he prepared sonograms of Sanskrit sounds. While studying those sonograms he got the idea of connecting Sanskrit letter sounds with meaning of Sanskrit words. One encouraging point was that of Sanskrit Varnamala in which letter sounds are arranged according to their origin in human tract. It is the periodic table of articulated sounds. Indians hold Sanskrit with high respect while alien Indologists were raising all kinds of questions. Some of them claimed Sanskrit to be a hybrid language a mixture of Aryan and Dravidian. Many have heard Aryan Invasion Theory of the Prehistory of India. If Sanskrit were hybrid then efforts to connect sounds with meanings will not work. So in order to find the origin of Sanskrit, Dr. Joshi went into the ancient history of Asian and European countries. Instead of Aryan Invasion he discovered the ancient Mahabharat Empire extended outside of the Indian sub-continent. Once convinced that Sanskrit has her own originality he proceeded in research of Phonemic Symbolism (Varnavada) in Sanskrit as well as in the history of Mahabharata. He will present his interesting discoveries in his talks.
